Bases: ExternalMetadata

Read-only, by-keyword access to the values in a FITS header.

Parameters:

header (Header | None) – Header to read. It is held by reference, so later changes to it are seen. None is equivalent to an empty header.

Notes

COMMENT, HISTORY, and blank-keyword cards are not visible. Keywords are reported in upper case, with HIERARCH keywords lacking the HIERARCH prefix (e.g. LSST ISR UNITS). Lookups ignore case and accept an optional HIERARCH prefix. Cards with no value are reported as None.
